Design exams are targeted to test your creative problem-solving skills, so sketching is a tool to communicate your idea. So it requires basic sketching, like drawing multiple lines without a scale (it doesn’t need to be straight always), which is enough for anyone to take these exams.

Your portfolio is a collection of your work that shows your design ideas, skillset, knowledge and, most importantly, your approach and process.
