National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT is a leader in fashion education. NIFT (GAT and CAT) is a national-level entrance test that the NIFT conducts. Through the process, it will offer admission to various Fashion and Technology related fields. The courses of B.F.Tech, B.Des, M.F.M, M.Des, and M.F.Tech after qualifying for the NIFT entrance test

Who can Apply ?

Any candidate who fulfills the program's prescribed age and educational qualification criteria can apply.

Age Qualification​

  • The maximum age should be less than 24 years as of 1st August of the year of admission. The upper age limit may be relaxed by 5 (five) years for candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories.

Educational Qualification​

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Programmes​​

 In (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication)

​

  • Passed the Plus 2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

Or

  • A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

Or

  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system.

Or

  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).​

 

 

Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech) Programme

​

  • Passed the Plus 2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi, with Physics and Mathematics.

Or

  • A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics and Mathematics.

Or

  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to a 10+2 system with Physics and Mathematics.

Or

  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB).

Exam Procedures

For B.Des​​

  • Exams will have two stages :

  • Creative Ability Test (CAT) 

  • General Ability Test (GAT) 

  • Based on both exams, students will get ranks and call for counseling.​

​

For B.F.Tech â€‹

​

  • Exams will have a single stage :

  • General Ability Test (GAT).

  • Based on exams, students will get ranks and call for counseling.​

​

**The objective type tests will have negative markings. The negative marking will be 25% of the total marks for each wrong answer.
